Firefox Browser

I know some of you might ask why I would recommend a browser, after all, Internet Explorer (IE)comes installed with so many computers. Besides, it’s just the internet, right? Not only should you be using Firefox (Fx), but you should ensure that your website is optimized for Firefox users. More on that later. here is a quick list of reasons to make the switch:

1. Tabbed Browsing – I personally hate to have more than a few windows open at any time, so this is a huge feature to me. Tabbed browsing allows you to have multiple websites open within one browser window. Firefox had this feature long before IE caught up.

2. Download Manager – This is an especially convenient feature for me, mainly due to my distaste for multiple windows. Instead of having a download window for every file, as IE has, Fx features a “Download Manager.” This is a small pop-up that shows all currently downloading files. Additionally, it allows a user to pause and resume downloads and keeps a record of all downloaded files.

3. Extensions and Plugins – This is where Fx really leaves IE in the dust. With Extensions and Plug-ins, your browser can become much more functional. For example, you can integrate a To Do list from Remember the Milk, a very useful service I will discuss later.

4. Spell Check – That’s right, Fx has released a spell check feature in the current version. This feature works on almost every website and is very similar to spell check in MS Word. If the dictionary does not recognize the word, it underlines it in red. You can then ignore the word, correct it, or add the word to the dictionary by simply right-clicking.

I could list reason after reason to use Fx, but the easiest way for you to figure it out is to download it. The bottom line is that, even if you only use a few of the capabilities of Fx, this browser will make you more productive, almost overnight.
