Second Triathlon…Two in Two Weeks

by Eric H. Doss on 23 March 2009

One of my classmates convinced me to head up to Columbia last weekend for the first annual Downtown Columbia Triathlon. Being a glutton for punishment, I agreed. For those of you non-geography majors, let me point out that Beaufort is an alluvial plain, i.e. flat, while Columbia is, well, not flat.

I had a great time though, in spite of the hills. I turned in a 1:15:36, a little better than last weekend, but on a slightly shorter course. I think I made most of the time up in the pool, 50m lanes and one way traffic. Anyway, I’m taking a few days off and not running another tri until Greenville, or maybe Rock Hill.

Congratulations on the hilly Downtown Columbia Triathlon Eric. We could use a South Carolina race report for our current and future triathlete visitors. If interested please visit the site and go to the “Your Races” page. Thank you. Jim

My fellow addict…I am pleased to see your progress. I hope to one day join you on your home turf and see what you Southern Fellows know about the sport.

Drive on Classmate!

Thanks Classmate. I don’t know if it’s progress, but I’m looking at an Olympic in October. Might be a nice 70.3 in November in Myrtle Beach, if you want to take a step down to just a Half IM…
