Projects

About a month after I graduated from The Citadel, I decided to run for The Citadel’s Board of Visitors.  This is the governing board of the college, normally reserved for graduates with years of experience.  Not letting this deter me, I decided to set up a website to disseminate my thoughts to other alumni.  A website, I thought, surely this can’t be too hard…  After a few days of gazing at my computer unproductively, I enlisted the help of my best friend, whose web design experience (one college level web design class) easily eclipsed my own.  Unsurprisingly, I did not win the election.  My first website sulked off into the digital abyss and I continued to be completely ignorant of all things related to web design.

Fast forward to the Fall of 2006.  My other best friend and I had batted around the idea of starting a business for a few years and finally set our sights on a decent idea.  After months of planning and discussion, we incorporated our business, McDaniel Cleveland Enterprises, LLC, and registered our first domain.  We found a piece of software that, allegedly, would guide us through the process of designing our first e-commerce store.  Wow, what a surprise we were in for.  Not only did the software fail to guide us through the process, we also quickly figured out how un-internet savvy we were.  Now, however, we were backed into a corner.  We both had to learn very quickly, as we had invested quite a bit of time and money into our new concept.

Since then I have successfully designed and deployed a handful of sites.  I am very proud of the e-commerce sites: TheCitadelStore.com and TheAppStateStore.com.  In addition, I launched a website to organize my college reunion and helped the class that graduated after us design a very simple site to manage their reunion.  After that, I managed the re-design of the DPHW site, including implementing a new e-mail, calendar, and document sharing system using Google Apps.  I have also built a few other, smaller sites to test out new programs, designs, and features.  I believe I have listed them all, so please click on any of the links below to see a detailed description of each project and a link to each site.
